Pastor

Rev. Dr. Gary L. Brown was appointed as the fifteenth pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church on August 19, 2012. He accepted this position, which officially began on September 1, 2012. This date represented a pivotal moment in the church's journey. Pastor Brown has been diligently ministering, leading the congregation with his vision, and preaching and teaching to nurture mature disciples of Jesus Christ.

Reverend Brown originates from El Paso, Texas, and is a product of the Prince George’s County Public School System in Maryland. He is the son of Dr. Ponce and Joyce Brown. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from North Carolina Central University, a master’s degree in education with a focus on higher education administration from North Carolina State University, a Master of Divinity from Shaw University Divinity School, and a Doctorate in leadership studies from N.C. A&T University in Greensboro. He was honored with NCCU’s 40 Under 40 Award in 2016 and recognized as the Vice Chancellor’s Senior Administrator of the Year for 2014-15. He is affiliated with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the American College Personnel Association.

Beyond being an educator, he is a child of God. He takes pride in being the father of two amazing children, Kyndall and Joshua Brown, and is married to Dr. Anita Branch Brown. Pastor Brown can be reached at: ​newhope.pastorbrown@gmail.com
